When workers have a Union, they have a voice on the job.
Working together, they negotiate good wages and working conditions so they can provide a better life for their families. Union members have higher wages, greater job stability, retirement security, and access to quality healthcare for their families. It is no wonder that 57 million Americans who are not union members say they want to be part of one.
Working People Standing Together
Unions are workers who stand together to bargain with their bosses for better pay, safer working conditions and decent benefits.
Historically, unions have accomplished many things for all working people that we now take for granted. Things like the eight-hour work day, minimum wage, child labor laws, unemployment insurance, Social Security and worker health and safety laws all were the direct result of union advocacy. Even Labor Day was created by unions.
